Week 9

Week 9

This week, I learned multiple intelligences and how teachers can make effective classes for students according to students’ learning style using technology tools.
It was very fun to think about what I can do to cope with different learning styles. However, I also thought that it was such demanding work to prepare for a lot of activities. I thought maybe I can create 2~3 activities on the same topic with different approaches, and have the students choose the activity based on their learning style. Teachers can assess students using different rubrics.
I don’t think teachers can do this for every topic, because it is such a time-consuming work, but every once in a while, teachers should try to do this, which can help students feel satisfied, motivated and give them self-esteem.

About the final plan, as Donna mentioned, it was really hard to create the first draft last week. This week, I only had to revise it some, with the help of the feedback that my partner gave me.
I am so happy that I almost finished my plan.

I cannot believe that this week is the second to last. Time really flied so fast. My new school term is starting next week. I am determined to make a good use of what I have learned through this webskill course.

  1. Dear Kunie,

As you experienced, I think exchanging checklists is a good way to promote students’ autonomy. Thanks for my partner’s checklist, I could revise my final plan. My final plan is much better than before. I am glad that I had a chance to experience effectiveness of using checklists. Yes, it is hard to believe that this course is almost over. I learned a lot from this course.

  2. Hi Kunie,

I do agree that learning styles are somehow directing the way we teach and it is truly helps in teaching-learning process. I agree that making draft was a bit harder than the final plan, so it made all the way much easier. Checklists made wonders )
Wish you good luck next week in new semester! I am sure it will be a bit different semester for both you and your students!

  3. Hi, Kunie,

My term starts in a week and I'm full of plans how to apply what we have learned, too.
Ten weeks seemed to be such a long route to manage, now they are nearly over I feel it's too soon. There's so much more to learn, and to learn together is much more fun than struggling with tech tools on your own.

  6. Hi Kunie,

You are right; we learned so many things in this training that is going to help us undoubtedly in our next academic year. As you have mentioned we cannot apply all what we have learned because it is time consuming but we may try it from time to time till we have a bank of resources which will facilitate using it extensively in our next academic years. Good luck in your career and I wish our students would benefit from what we have learned in this training with University of Oregon.

  7. Hi, Kunie! As a difference from most colleagues which have commented this post, my lessons at the Faculty will start in a month, so I suppose I will have the time to prepare some practical applications of technology to my lessons. I like your idea of creating "2~3 activities on the same topic with different approaches", and having "the students choose the activity based on their learning style", I think in a more-less the same way...
